This page provides external links to accessibility help, enabling computer users to make the most of the internet whatever their ability or disability. Should it be required, please use these resources to enable better use of this site. Site users can also relay any accessibility feedback to addysg-marketing@adultlearning.wales so to help improve the site for future users.

 

 

Web Accessibility www.web-accessibility.org.uk - aims to improve access to the web for people who have the following disabilities: blindness, poor eyesight and colour blindness, mobility disabilities such as difficulty to use hands, tremor, loss of fine motor skills, etc, hearing impairment and deafness, epilepsy, and cognitive/intellectual disabilities.

 

 

Royal Institute for the Blind www.rnib.org.uk/living-with-sight-loss/assistive-aids-and-technology/tech-support-and-information/ - Being able to use computers, landline and mobile phones and other gadgets for work, leisure and keeping in contact are key tools for blind and partially sighted people. The RNIB site provides advice and guidance as well as access to their “Technology Support Squad” to those visually impaired.

 

 

BBC www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility – provides advice and help on how to get the most of the accessibility features and assistive technologies available for your computer, so that you can view the web in a more accessible way.

 

 
The site should be usable by recent versions of assistive technologies including JAWS (Job Access With Speech), NVDA (Non Visual Desktop Access), ZoomText, and Dragon Naturally Speaking. It should also be usable by screen magnifiers and speech recognition software found on your operating system.
Reading text on a screen is not always easy for some people. The font size has been set at a minimum of 12pts and the Arial font has been used throughout to ensure text is a clear as possible – without the need of resizing. You may, however, also be able to use your browser to change the text size.
 
 
Moreover, your operating system may provide accessibility tools including onscreen magnification.
 
 

Colour contrast
 
We have used back ground colours throughout which should contrast sufficiently with text (ratio 7:1) making it easy to read.
 
For those of you who find the colour scheme less accessible, there may be the option to use your browser to use your own colours.

There are a number of Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) and Microsoft Word documents on the website. If you are having trouble opening these files, you may need additional software:

If you need extra help in using computers, the web and assistive technologies, we recommend you visit BBC My Web, My Way. This site has videos and information to help you use the accessibility features of your computer and shows how to make it easier to use the web.

Whilst we've tried to ensure this site is accessible, you may encounter some limitations. Although we always aim to communicate in clear and simple language but this isn’t always possible.
