Council Member - Emily Carter

I hail from Treharris near Merthyr Tydfil and have undertaken a number of recent courses with Adult Learning Wales - in first aid, counselling and health & safety. Currently I am working towards a PCET (Post Compulsory Education and Training) qualification at The College Merthyr Tydfil. This will enable me to teach in the further, adult and vocational education sectors (16+ years), so expanding on my volunteer experience in teaching roles.

It was a great privilege coming top of the poll in the election for a learner governor in October 2024. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the Adult Learning Wales Council and its Audit Committee, and so to connect with everyone involved. I anticipate a rewarding journey of growth and collaboration together. With a passion for the lifelong learning sector and with my professional and life experience and collaborative approach, I believe I can make valuable contributions to advancing the organisation’s goals.
