Council Member - Gill Jones

I’m a highly experienced teacher and trainer with a career spanning senior roles in higher education (including Deputy Dean of the Cardiff School of Education and Director of Enterprise in the Cardiff School of Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University), specialising in post-compulsory education and training. Over the course of my career, I developed a broad and diverse teaching portfolio, underpinned by a strong commitment to excellence and supporting learners in education and professional development.

Since retiring from higher education, I have refocused my practice on craft education, specialising in basketry. I founded and I am a director of the Rural Skills Centre, where we offer City and Guilds Basketry qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, alongside a wide-ranging programme of workshops designed to engage, inspire, and develop learners’ interests in heritage crafts at all levels.
