Council Member - Salamatu J. Fada

Dr. Salamatu Jidda-Fada is a Nigerian-British conservation scientist, educator, and advocate for environmental issues. Originally from Gombe State, Nigeria, she studied at the University of Jos and now resides in North Wales where she is involved in both local and international initiatives focused on conservation, climate action, and community development.

Highlights of her career include roles in academia, research, government, and activism. She holds positions at the University of Jos and Bangor University, where she earned her Ph.D. Her research has focused on vegetation change and climate impacts. Bangor University awarded her an Honorary Doctor of Science degree. Dr. Jidda-Fada is a Councillor for Bangor City Council and advises the Welsh Government. She has also been appointed to the Eryri National Park Authority and is a member of an IUCN expert group. As an advocate, she mentors young activists and founded several non-profit organizations.

Dr. Jidda-Fada also consults on environmental projects and founded JAVS Environmental Care Ltd. and the Centre for Sustainability Research and Practice LLP. Her consultancy work includes projects for international organizations.
