ALW Membership Scheme - Frequently Asked Questions
ALW’s membership scheme is a community of current and previous learners, and those committed to Adult Community Learning (ACL) and lifelong learning, who together can help shape ALW and the environment for learning across Wales. It provides an opportunity to share your voice and have your say in how community learning progresses across Wales.
As well as becoming part of our active community, members will receive benefits as outlined on our Membership Scheme page.
There are 2 types of membership- “Individual” membership, and “Affiliated Organisation” membership.
You will need to actively join via the New Membership Registration Form.
As an inclusive organisation, we are proud to operate a 'pay what you can' approach to our annual Individual Membership fees. We recommend £5.00 for the unwaged and £10.00 for those in work, but this is just a guide.
You can also make a donation to ALW, we operate as a registered charity, and you can gift aid your membership fee at no extra cost.
We currently have a fixed fee of £50 for our Annual Affiliated membership.
Yes, you can join as an Affiliated membership which includes Partners, Branches and other Organisations. Please select the Affiliated membership at the time of booking/renewing your membership.
Individual members can receive a 10% discount on fees for ALW courses.
From time to time, we are also able to provide exclusive money-saving offers or invitations to events with our cultural partners in Wales.
When you book your course online, input your membership number to receive a 10% discount on course fees.
No, membership won’t automatically transfer. Existing members will be required to “reactivate” your membership via the new system by using the New Membership Registration Form.
You will no longer be able to pay membership fees by standing order. You should cancel any existing standing orders, and complete the New Membership Registration Form with payment details.
You will no longer be able to pay membership fees via payroll. The payroll team has been informed to cancel all payments from October 2024. Staff members should complete the New Membership Registration Form with payment details.
