Janet Beauchamp - co-optee Audit Committee

Janet Beauchamp is a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is Programme Director of the Foundation leading to Social Sciences, a programme for students who don’t manage to meet the entry requirements for their chosen degree, or who are lacking confidence and would like to gain study skills or who haven’t been in education for a while and feel they need a refresher.

She is a chartered Town Planner who has significant professional experience in industry. Janet has previously worked at two other universities and has taught on the Housing Studies, Sociology and Social Policy, and Health and Social Care degree programmes at Cardiff Met.

Her passion is around the quality of places in which people live and the impact on their life chances. She is Chair of a housing association which provides homes in the most economically challenged and culturally diverse part of Wales.

At Cardiff Met, Janet runs community teaching courses across south Wales and many of her previous students have progressed to the Foundation programme and gained their chosen degrees. Janet’s teaching ethos is around a second chance for all, and she always wants the best outcome for students.
