Deputy Chief Executive (Curriculum & Finance) - Mark Baines

I joined Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales (then WEA South Wales) as a Finance specialist in 2007, following previous Finance roles in the Education sector.

My role within the organisation has developed significantly during this time, particularly to include responsibility for curriculum as Head of Curriculum and Performance. Reporting to the Chief Executive, I provide strategic leadership and direction to the curriculum and quality functions to enable and to facilitate the delivery of high quality adult learning, through excellence in teaching and learning.

I provide strategic leadership, management, and development of the financial strategy in support of the Strategic Plan and financial objectives, complimenting my curriculum role and ensuring that the organisation has a sound framework of financial management operating in accordance with relevant statutory responsibilities and requirements.
I also have corporate responsibility for Finance, project management, income generation and procurement; MIS (data management and learner records systems) and Information Technology.

I am a Chartered Management Accountant associated with Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and have recently completed Estyn Peer Inspector training. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, mountain biking and enjoying the outdoors with my family.
