Overview

This course will cover basic clothing repair techniques, hand-sewing and mending skills, repairing seams, hems and small tears, simple alterations and upcycling ideas with sustainable approaches to clothing and textiles.

Content

Join us for two free Make Do and Mend taster sessions in a friendly and supportive environment. You will learn simple clothing repair and upcycling techniques to help extend the life of your garments and textiles. These sessions are a great opportunity to develop practical skills, save money, reduce waste and explore creative ways to repair and refresh everyday items.

Entry Requirements

These sessions are suitable for anyone interested in learning practical repair and mending skills. No previous experience is required and both beginners and experienced makers are welcome.

Opportunities to Progress

Following these taster sessions, you may progress to a longer non accredited Make Do and Mend or sewing course to further develop your skills. Opportunities to progress onto accredited sewing, textiles and fashion courses will also be available.

What Do I Need?

Your tutor will be in touch following enrolment to advise you of any materials required for the taster sessions. We encourage a sustainable approach by using clothing, fabrics and materials you already have at home wherever possible to help keep costs to a minimum.
