You will prepare affordable, everyday meals using simple ingredients exploring flavours inspired by different cuisines. Learn basic cooking techniques to build confidence in the kitchen and discover tips for planning budget-friendly meals and reducing food waste.

Join us for two cooking taster sessions exploring affordable meals inspired by flavours from around the world.
Begin your cooking journey by celebrating Wales' rich culinary heritage and commemorating Owain Glyndŵr Day. In this hands-on taster session, you will discover traditional Welsh recipes, learn practical cooking skills and explore the history and culture behind the dishes we prepare together. To help keep costs down, recipes have been carefully chosen to use affordable, everyday ingredients.

Entry Requirements

These sessions are suitable for anyone interested in developing cooking skills, trying new flavours and learning how to prepare affordable meals at home. No previous experience is required.

Opportunities to Progress

Following these taster sessions, you may progress to a longer non-accredited Affordable Cooking: World Flavours course, continuing to develop practical cooking skills and explore a wider range of affordable recipes. Further accredited opportunities will also be available.

What Do I Need?

Your tutor will provide an ingredients list following enrolment for each session. All learners will be required to purchase their own ingredients.
The course focuses on affordable cooking, using cost-effective ingredients and recipes that can create a meal for two people or provide a family meal for four. Learners are encouraged to use ingredients they already have at home wherever possible to help reduce costs and waste.
