Overview
Week 1 - Discovering Natural Dyes - Exploring natural sources of colour and introductory dyeing techniques. Week 2 - Creating Colour - Planning and producing a naturally dyed textile item. Week 3 - Layering Colour and Creating Pattern - Developing surface design through multiple dye layers and resist techniques.Content
This practical and creative three-week course introduces learners to the fascinating world of natural dyes. Through demonstrations, discussion and accessible at-home projects, learners will explore sources of natural colour, learn simple dyeing techniques, and develop their own unique dyed and patterned textile pieces. The course progresses from basic colour exploration through to creating layered colour effects and simple resist techniques.Qualification

What Do I Need?
This course is delivered online. You will need access to a Laptop/Desktop Computer, Speakers & Camera, and a Microphone. You will need access to a Wi-Fi connection. This course is delivered via MS Teams. We recommend that you check access to the course prior to the start of it. • White or light-coloured cotton fabric item
• Natural dye source (e.g. coffee, turmeric, beetroot)
• String or rubber bands
• Containers for dyeing
Resources Required - Week 2
• Plain cotton tote bag
• Natural dye materials
• Protective covering for workspace
Resources Required - Week 3
• Previously dyed tote bag or fabric piece
• Additional dye materials
• Simple wax resist materials (wax and applicator)
• Small textile item for final project
