Experienced Operator – Test/Assessment – £477.00

This route is designed for learners with existing experience of operating 360° excavators who are ready to demonstrate their competence through assessment. Learners will be assessed on areas including pre-use checks, safe operation, manoeuvring, excavation and machine control, site safety and shutting down and securing the machine.

Novice Operator – Training Course – £1,212.00

This route is designed for learners who are new to operating 360° excavators or require further training. Learners will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out pre-use checks, operate and manoeuvre the excavator safely, undertake excavation tasks, understand site and operational hazards, and shut down and secure the machine correctly in preparation for assessment.

Learners must be registered with the current Farming Connect programme, have access to the Skills Hub using RPW Online One Login, and have completed their Personal Development Plan (PDP). Learners must also complete the mandatory Health and Safety – Risk Management in Forestry and Farming e-learning module. The appropriate training or assessment route will depend on the learner’s existing experience and competence. Learners should discuss their previous operating experience and whether they require certification for an excavator under or over 10 tonnes with the training provider before enrolment.

NPORS Operator Card – 360° Excavator

The appropriate NPORS registration will reflect the category of excavator on which the learner is successfully trained and assessed.

Learners may wish to progress to further plant and machinery training, including additional excavator categories or other agricultural machinery relevant to their work. Experienced operators may also undertake further training and assessment to extend their range of recognised operating competencies.

Learners should wear suitable clothing and safety footwear and bring any PPE required for the practical training and assessment. Any specific identification, PPE, equipment or course materials required will be confirmed by the training provider before the course.
