This course covers the safe application of pesticides using specialist application equipment. Learners can choose between two pathways depending on the equipment relevant to their work: PA4G – Granular Applicators or PA4S – Slug Pellet Applicators.

PA4G – Granular Applicators

This pathway covers the safe application of pesticides using granular application equipment. Learners will develop practical knowledge of preparing and checking equipment, calibration, safe operation and application, reducing risks to people and the environment, dealing with contamination and completing procedures safely after use.

PA4S – Slug Pellet Applicators

This pathway covers the safe application of pesticides using slug pellet application equipment. Learners will develop practical knowledge of preparing and checking equipment, calibration, safe operation and application of slug pellets, reducing risks to people and the environment, dealing with contamination and completing procedures safely after use.

Learners must be registered with the current Farming Connect programme, have access to the Skills Hub using RPW Online One Login, and have completed their Personal Development Plan (PDP). Learners must have achieved the Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1), or equivalent, before undertaking PA4 assessment, and must complete the mandatory Pesticide Safety e-learning module.

Learners will achieve the Level 2 qualification appropriate to their chosen pathway.

PA4G – Granular Applicators

Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides Using Granular Application Equipment (PA4G)

PA4S – Slug Pellet Applicators

Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides Using Slug Pellet Application Equipment (PA4S)

Learners may wish to progress to further pesticide application training, including other specialist pesticide application methods and equipment relevant to their work.

Learners should wear suitable protective clothing and footwear and bring any PPE required for the practical training and assessment. Any specific equipment, identification or course materials required will be confirmed by the training provider before the course.
