Staff Governor - Sam Emmett

I am a Curriculum Development Co-ordinator in Conwy for Adult Learning Wales, designing new educational programmes. I also have broad experience in community outreach education with various bodies, of teaching in Higher Education, as a teacher educator and a multi-disciplinary tutor. In addition to subjects I am involved in for the organisation (Award in Education and Training / Train the Trainer / Teaching and Learner Support / Digital Literacy / Employability / Additional Learning Needs / Mental Health First Aid Instructor) I can also teach History and Archaeology.

I am a passionate supporter of education for all, especially so in adult learning, and widening participation. I have advanced digital and digital pedagogical skills that will be of value in this role, as education will continue to have a strong digital presence in the future. Throughout my career I have used my innovation skills to create new courses and educational approaches.

Prior to this, I worked in retail for many years (and archaeology before that), running a small chain of independent stores, which provided managerial, business development and budgeting skills. These combined with my experience in education and innovative practice will I trust be of value to our Council.
