Council Member - Steve David
I’ve been a tutor for Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales and its predecessors for 18 years, in various locations across South Wales. I’ve taught numerous subjects - history, politics, trade union courses, essential and key skills - and worked on several projects. I’m therefore familiar with difficulties that tutors can experience over a range of disciplines, delivery methods and locations. I’m also aware of frustrations that some of the Organisation’s tutors encounter, and recognise these exist because tutors see the value of what they do and feel that it could be done better. The voice of tutors on Council is an innovation. It is crucial in shaping policies under present circumstances, as tutors form the link, through whatever medium, between the Organisation and students. At a time when we are all trying to sustain relationships this matters more than before. As we come out of the Covid-19 pandemic the role of tutors will be central to re-forging links that have been suspended for a year or more.
