Council Vice Chair - Toni Schiavone
Before retirement I was Deputy Director and then Director of the Basic Skills Agency Wales, with responsibility for the Welsh Government’s Lifelong Basic Skills Strategy. This involved leading projects in the field of adult education in the workplace and community. Prior to that I was a secondary school teacher, an educational consultant for the humanities in primary and secondary schools across north-west Wales, worked as an Estyn inspector and as a part-time adult education tutor.
I was an elected and then an appointed member of the Council between 2014 and 2017. I have experience of managing significant budgets, of managing people, internal quality as well as the quality of educational outputs, of evaluation and of measuring the impact of what is undertaken.
