New Governor Elected By Our Learners

The result of an election to the post of WEA Cymru governor has just been announced. This was for a seat specifically earmarked for our students/learners in north Wales on the organisation’s Council (governing body).
Four candidates put their names forward, and a poll was held in which each learner in north Wales had the right to vote. The winner, with a clear overall majority of the votes cast (55%), was Christine Topham. She lives in Llanbedr, Gwynedd where she runs her own small business, and has studied silversmithing at Coleg Harlech. She takes up her new role immediately, and will bring her experience to bear not only on Council but also on our Quality and Learner Experience Committee.
This was the last remaining vacancy on WEA Cymru’s Council, and we now have a full complement of 20 governors.
