Teaching, Learning and Development & Learning Support

We offer a full range of qualifications in Teaching, Learning and Development and Learning Support. The qualifications include areas such as Assessor and Quality Assurance, Education and Training, Learning Support and Essential Skills Practitioner.

The qualifications allow progression to becoming a qualified Teacher, Trainer and Internal Verifier.

Our learners achieve nationally recognised educational qualifications through City and Guilds and Agored Cymru; courses are offered flexibly to suit the needs of learners.

Our current range of courses:

Level 2

Assessment of Credit Based Units - Agored Cymru
A two day course, to support the learner in understanding the requirements when delivering and assessing credit based units. Learners will be asked to complete written work and take part in group discussions to evidence achievement.

Train the Trainer - Agored Cymru
The course is an entry point and introduction for those new to training or those wishing to train/present in the further education and skills sector. Learners’ work will be assessed through a workbook and observation of a micro-teach session delivered by the course participants.

 

Level 3

Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement - City & Guilds
The Award is for practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally-related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments. The course is delivered over 4 formal taught sessions followed by a number of one-to-one meetings, compilation of a portfolio of evidence and observations of practice (independent study, reading and preparation). The total length of the course is approximately 6-8 months.

Award in Education and Training
The Award is an entry point and introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train in the further education and skills sector. . Learners will be asked to complete 3 written assignments (in their own time) within specified timescales and will be assessed carrying out a micro-teaching session.

 

Level 4

Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice - City & Guilds
The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is for practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre/organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors. The course is delivered over 4 formal taught sessions followed by a number of one-to-one meetings, compilation of a portfolio of evidence and observations of practice (independent study, reading and preparation). The total length of the course is approximately 6-8 months.

 

You can choose to undertake any of the courses in Welsh, English or bilingually. All learners must attend at least 80% of the course to achieve the qualification. Learners will be asked to complete written assignments and will be assessed on a minimum of 3 graded observations in their teaching role.
