OverviewThis course will cover the causes of depression, the effects of it and how common depression is in wider society and the stigma attached to it. We’ll discuss how depression affects mood, life experiences, and how it can impact upon people's lives and extended connections (family / loved ones). We will also look at the support available to those suffering from, and for those supporting people with depression.
Please note, this is not a self-help course and is not a substitute for professional medical help or professional care.
ContentThis course is suitable for those who are suffering with depression, those who are supporting people with depression, those who are working to support people who have depression, or anyone interested in learning more about depression.
QualificationCompletion of this course does not result in a recognised qualification.
However you would receive a certificate of completion from us which would be available to download from your MyAccount.

What Do I Need?As this is an online course, you would need the following:
• internet access
• access to a laptop or computer with a web camera and microphone; the use of headphones might also be of benefit
• use of the Chrome web-browser where possible
Please note that our online courses require the use of Microsoft Office 365 apps and our virtual learning environment, Moodle. Once enrolled on a course with us, we provide free access to these services.
