Overview

How can you help your child with reading? This course will give you lots of tips to help your child enjoy and progress their reading skills. You can learn the techniques and practise them separately with your child, so no need for your child to attend.
The course is run over two weeks as follows: Session 1 - Tuesday week 1; Session 2 - Thursday week 1; Session 3 - Tuesday week 2; Session 4 - Thursday week 2.

Content

An online course for dads, mums, grandparents or carers. Lots of handy hints to take away and have fun practising with your child, including:
• Fun activities with letters and words
• What, when and where to read?
• Rhymes, games and songs
• How does a child learn to read at school?
• What are phonics? How can you help to practise them?

Qualification

Completion of this course does not result in a recognised qualification.
However you would receive a certificate of completion from us which would be available to download from your MyAccount.

Entry Requirements

No previous experience is needed and there are no formal entry requirements.

Career Path

This course could lead on to an accredited course with Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales in a related or different subject area.

What Do I Need?

As this is an online course, you would need the following:
• internet access
• access to a laptop or computer with a web camera and microphone; the use of headphones might also be of benefit
• use of the Chrome web-browser where possible

Please note that our online courses require the use of Microsoft Office 365 apps and our virtual learning environment, Moodle. Once enrolled on a course with us, we provide free access to these services.
