OverviewThe Level 2 Award in Play-work Practice (L2APP) has been developed to respond to the needs of the play and play work workforce as defined in Welsh Government statutory guidance, Wales – a Play Friendly Country. This course is for practitioners working face-to-face with children, they include: youth workers, school staff including lunchtime supervisors, hospital play, Community development staff and family support.
ContentThe qualification includes two units:
• Understanding a play-work approach – knowledge & understanding
• Application of a play-work approach – assessment of competence
L2APP provides a good foundation of knowledge of children’s play and a play-work approach for practitioners working face -to face with children.
QualificationL2APP is a recognised qualification by Care Inspectorate Wales for working in the Play Sector.
Entry Requirements• Learners must be aged 16 years or above
• Learners must hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service ( DBS ) certificate
• Learners must undertake a minimum of 20 hours placement practice in a suitable play setting
Career PathThe L2APP supports progression onto higher levels of learning; learners can progress onto the P3 Level 2 Certificate (Play-work Principles into Practice) - a recognised qualification in the Play-work Sector.
