Digitally Included! Minister Visits Mold Adult Learning Class08-March-2018
Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, Eluned Morgan returned to learning at Mold’s Caffi Isa, where she joined a Digital Inclusion class for adults living with Parkinson’s.
Kathryn Robson, Chief Executive of the class provider Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales, welcomed the Minister, and commented, “With the changing needs of communities across Wales, where the shift continues away from the high streets for some banks and post-offices, and where communication now revolves around the internet and mobile, this class not only helps address a skills-need but also brings people together helping to combat other issues such as feelings of isolation and loneliness.”
Mrs Robson continued, “As an organisation we are flexible and responsive, and we are delighted to welcome the Minister, and the have the opportunity to show her how we tailor our courses to help and support our learners with Parkinson’s.”
Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales supports the national Ageing Well in Wales programme which contributes to and complements the Welsh Government’s Strategy for Older People.
Mrs Robson highlighted, “Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales is involved with a number of partners such as Age Cymru, Prime Cymru, Parkinson’s UK and local authorities, delivering a range of tailored Digital Literacy courses in addition to our wider course offer.”
Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning Minister, Eluned Morgan said: “Helping people to access services on-line both safely and securely is a priority for the Welsh Government. We support delivery of a range of digital literacy classes that are aimed at helping people to use today’s technology effectively.“We also encourage our providers to work in partnership with community organisations to help identify learners who would benefit from our support and ensure our provision is accessible and targeted to their needs.”
