Inspire! Awards Nominations 2018 - Diane Jones11-May-2018
As a Microsoft instructor, Diane Jones had a good job and a secure future however, following a struggle from addiction and depression following a sudden divorce, Diane found herself in a very dark place.
Following rehabilitation sessions, Diane decided she wanted to give something back to others who might experiencing similar problems. She found a Substance misuse and introduction to counselling course at her local college, applied and was accepted.
Diane found the course extremely beneficial and that her experiences made it very interesting as she could open up and be honest about what she had been through. Diane progressed onto the intermediate course which included bereavement which was again relevant as she had lost her father at a young age. The learning didn’t stop there, Diane achieved her Level 3 Certificate in Counselling skills and subsequently the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic counselling.
The focus and determination that Diane has shown has meant that she has qualified as a Therapeutic Counsellor and is now in the process of setting up her own counselling service. She is also continuing her learning further with the Level 3 Certificate in Life Coaching Studies. Diane has transformed her life and has used her own experiences to help and inspire others.
In her own words ‘since starting this programme of study I have gained enormous confidence in my abilities, in talking about experiences and I feel my deep level of empathy gained from my illness is something that I feel would benefit others’.
