As a result of our move to online provision during the on-going Covid-19 outbreak, our Award in Education and Training (AET) uses a blended learning model using our learning platform Moodle as well as Microsoft Teams.

Through the fantastic efforts of our Curriculum Delivery Officer, Laura Jones, and Tutor Sam Emmett, as the first blended learning AET course that’s been delivered by us, our Wrexham AET tutor and learners are proving to be real trail-blazers!

Of the new course approach, Laura commented, “Our AET course which would usually take place in Wrexham is going really well online. All learners are able to connect using Microsoft Teams except for one learner where this is likely due to hardware issues. So to help ensure all of our learners can engage, we are loaning a laptop to help resolve those issues! We’ll have a one to one session with them to make sure everyone is at the same stage.”

Learners are very positive about the learning approach and tutor Sam Emmett’s skills using online tools and supporting learners is proving to be a winning combination.

Sam reflects, “Learners received lots of support from us before the course started to ensure their learning needs were met while also building their confidence in accessing the course through a blended learning model.

“This course gives learners the skills and qualification to deliver in the adult learning field as well as building confidence when using online teaching and learning tools. This will bring real added value to the course and the learners will be able to use their new skills in their workplaces and their communities.”

Well done to our Wrexham trail-blazers! You can be sure that others across Wales will be hot on your virtual heels! Keep up the good work.
