Mencap Success Continues Through Lockdown11-August-2020
We are very proud of the strong and caring partnership that we have built with Mencap (Llanfyllin) over the years. Our work together ensured that support for our learners continued during the recent difficult times.
Life under lockdown presented many challenges where our tutors and our learners developed new ways of doing things in a very short time. Learners who were shielding adapted new ways of working with technology in order to communicate with their tutor safely and remotely.
We are delighted to report that our learning success has continuedwhere our learning offer used a variety of platforms and applications to communicate and support learning. Rasi (our tutor) recorded YouTube videos for the learners to follow as well as conducting tutor led activities using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
A variety of arts and craft activities contributed to the mental health and well-being of our learners, and other opportunities included a nature project, learning about wildlife and the preservation of our environment.
Rasi maintained learner contact throughout and co-ordinated activities with Mencap partner contact Susie. Our allotment was not overlooked, and in order to keep the weeds at bay, the vegetables ‘on track’ and most importantly our learners mental well-being healthy, this too featured within regular Mencap Team Meetings enabling Rasi to provide support and ideas, adding value to the provision of service (PWLD) as things developed and changed.
Positive and ‘lovely’ feedback capturing the learner outcomes underlines what our combined efforts have achieved whilst on lockdown; we are proud to show the lovely work produced.
