It’s Our AGM and we look ahead to Shaping the Future16-March-2021
Twelve months ago little did we know that we would be entering a period of national lockdown. As a result, our 2020 Annual General Meeting broke new ground taking place over the internet. Twelve months on and our 2021 event is set to continue the trend. Our virtual event will be hosted over the internet once again and will take place on Tuesday 30th March 2021 from 10am to 12.30pm. As a membership organization, the AGM sits central to our constitution, where we will be reporting on our work over the last year as well as voting on a series of proposed motions.
The AGM will be followed by our ‘Shaping the Future’ event introduced by our president Nia Parry. This year’s event theme is Adult Learning in Post Covid-19 Wales and provides opportunity to discuss key aspects to frame our work to come. Our guest speakers are Uzo Iwobi, Founder of Race Council Cymru (RCC) where she is to focus on Equal Learning Opportunities through Covid-19 and Beyond.
Rob Humphreys, member and interim Chair of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and former Director of the Open University in Wales, will also be speaking where he will discussing the many challenges and opportunities for Adult Community Learning and Further Education in Wales in a post-Covid Wales.
Learner successes will also be celebrated during the event where this will be topped by a panel discussion hosted by our President Nia Parry, featuring Uzo Iwobi, Rob Humphreys, our Chair John Graystone and our Chief Executive, Kathryn Robson. As always the day will be a busy one, and while only members will be able to vote at the AGM, all are invited to share in the day – we’re looking forward to this all-Wales gathering!
