Rob Burton’s a Winner!12-July-2021
Thursday 9th July, saw the Inspire Tutor Awards being held via an online event, and we're very proud to say that our tutor Rob Burton won an Inspire Tutor Award!
Rob says, "I have a strong passion to equip, train and inspire youth workers to be excellent and provide high quality support to young people. My passion for youth work and for learners to be the best they can be, sees my focus investing in individuals and groups, developing their skills, knowledge and awareness of being professional and sensitive to the environment in which they operate. I am keen to make the subject accessible and real, and because of my wide experience, offer many real-life scenarios and practical ways that the learning be applied or incorporated into their own context or practice.”
Rob teaches Youth Work courses in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area. He says that it has been really important to help learners continue their learning throughout the pandemic, ensuring that they are well equipped with the skills needed for working within Youth work in the future, and in the current digital climate. He explains how a lot of hard work has been done by colleagues across the organization and within his department to make sure that technical support is available to his learners to access online learning and continuing with their studies.
Rob says, "We knew that the sense of continuity and community would be really important to sustain throughout the pandemic, and we worked really hard to ensure that the work and qualifications were fit for purpose online.”
Given the many challenges brought about as a result of the pandemic, the year 2020/21 could have resulted in no youth work support worker training at all. But, as a result of the efforts of Rob and others, to innovate and adapt resources for online delivery, training is being provided across Wales, now with over 200 learners and 15 tutors.
Huge congratulations to Rob from all of us at Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales - a very deserving winner.
