Improving Digital Literacy skills and gaining confidence!
08-June-2022Having completed the Digital Literacy course, our learner Tony Weeks wanted to share his experience, to give thanks to his tutor and hope that others would be inspired to start a course of their own!
Tony shares with us, “I started the course for two reasons. One, to increase my own personal knowledge and two, to integrate with the community and make friends with like-minded people as I had recently retired and was also new to the area. I felt that doing the course was worthwhile, so I committed myself to travelling quite a long distance from where I live.
I told my family and friends that I started the course and was pleased that I did. They were impressed that I didn’t waste time getting off my butt and getting out to meet people!
I had a basic knowledge of Word and Excel before starting the course and I was keen to advance my knowledge. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed in the way that the subject matter was presented and the manner in which it was taught. All questions were answered patiently and thoroughly, no matter what was asked. My knowledge and confidence in using the MS packages grew enormously thanks to my tutor Robert Meredith.
I’ve applied what I learned in my doing voluntary work for the administration of the St Gwladys church/community hall in Bargoed and have gained a feeling of well-being and satisfaction in being involved in voluntary work for the community.
I’ve had complete encouragement from all people I’ve encountered in Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales and I’m looking forward to making my retirement enjoyable and self-satisfying!”
We would like to congratulate Tony on completing his course and thank him for his feedback. Well done on volunteering and good luck with retirement Tony!
