Our learner Maria Georgiou has gained enough confidence to search for a new job having completed her IT course! Maria shares why she decided to learn something new and why she would recommend the course to others.

Maria says, “My motivation to joining the class was to help me with basic IT skills and eventually help me find a job. I was attracted to the course as I did some other courses with Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales before lockdown. The lady that I spoke to was really encouraging and this gave me confidence.

I would definitely recommend the classes to others as it improved my knowledge and has given me motivation to move forward. The classes help me interact with others. I feel like I have become calmer, patient and have learnt to keep trying if I don’t succeed first time. Having borrowed a device from Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales for the class, I now hope to buy a laptop soon so I can practice the skills I’ve learnt. It was really nice to see how others in the class work too. When my children are home I show them on their laptops what I have done and feel proud to show them new things I’m learning.

I received lots of support from my tutor and classmates and my children like the fact that I’m trying to learn new things to make their life easier. I am seeking work to get on my feet again as my health is better. It’s been great to learn again and broadened my outlook. I really feel it’s a new way to meet people and be a part of the community.”
