How to log in to your Office 365/Outlook email account

1. Open a web browser (e.g. Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Chromium)

2. Enter Office.com into the address bar

Then press enter

3. Click Sign in

4. Enter your email address at the screen below

Then click Next.

5. Select ‘Work or School account’ This screen may not appear and you move straight on to the Enter Password section

Then click Next.

6. Enter the given temporary password

Click Sign in.

7. Update your temporary password to one of your own

To update your password to one of your own, enter the temporary password (as previous screen) , enter your new password and then re-enter your new password to confirm then click Sign In Passwords must be made up of at least 8 characters containing at least one lower case letter, ONE UPPER CASE LETTER and at least one number e.g., Ped45216

Click Sign in.

You will then be asked if you would like to stay signed in. Only choose Yes if you are the only person who uses the device you are using to sign in, otherwise, click No

You will then be signed in to your Microsoft Office 365 account. Outlook (for your emails) will be one of the icons available (as below).

 

 

Microsoft Teams is also an option from this Menu, (as shown above).

Further attempts to sign in to your account will either call or text you (depending on the way you have chosen) with a verification code to the chosen mobile number to verify your identity before logging you in.

When using MSTeams for the first time it will offer you the opportunity of installing the desktop version of the software (see below). If you choose to install this software you will not need to log in to your Office 365 account each time to attend your class.

Password Reset and Account Recovery

To enable you to reset your own password in the future, you can add additional security to the account.

1. Click on your Initials in the top right and chose option ‘View account’

2. Click ‘Update info’ on the security info tile

3. Choose ‘Add method'

4. Choose the method you want to use and click ‘Add’. The most commonly used options are:

Phone = Mobile, this will enable a text or phone call to a mobile number
Email = Use your personal email address

5. Enter the Country or region as United Kingdom, enter your mobile number and click Next.

6. Depending on the option, selected Microsoft will send a text, email or phone with a 6 digit code to verify your details. Enter the code and click Next.

6. Click Done.

If you forget your password Microsoft will use these details to recover your account and reset your password, please make sure you keep these details up to date.

 

Learners will now also be able to access their Moodle courses clicking the link as circled below on the Moodle log-in page
