Studying can sometimes be stressful. We want to make it as stress free as possible for all our learners. That is why we have laid out some support options below that may help you with your learning with us.
Study Advice
We want you to have a positive experience and get as much as possible out of your course. There are several ways that you can access information, advice and guidance.
At ALW we have Curriculum Development Coordinators (CDCs) whose job it is to advise you on what courses are available in your area.
In addition, CDCs can help you identify a suitable progression route through different courses to help you achieve your goal. If you have a question that relates to any support you may need, for example with learning or finances, and doesn’t relate to course delivery, then you may wish to contact Learner Services for assistance. We will be happy to help find an answer to your question or put you in touch with someone who can.

National Data Bank Scheme
Support for learners enrolled with Adult Learning Wales
Adult Learning Wales has partnered with the Good Things Foundation, who oversee the National Data Bank scheme. The National Databank is providing free data to 500,000 people, in partnership with Virgin Media O2, Vodafone and Three.
The UK National Databank brings free mobile internet data connectivity to people who can’t afford it and who are often also experiencing multiple inequalities in today’s society.
The aim is to remove the barrier faced by those in the UK, who are not able to afford to stay connected. The scheme will help people who are cut off from contacting loved ones, from attending online job interviews, from finding essential health or other information online.
To receive data through the National Databank you must:
- Be 18+ years old
- AND be from a low-income household
And qualify in one or several of the following statements:
- Has no access or insufficient access to the internet at home
- AND/OR has no or insufficient access to the internet when away from the home
- AND/OR cannot afford their existing monthly contract or top up

Period Dignity
Support for learners enrolled with Adult Learning Wales
A scheme supported by Welsh Government has been introduced to promote period dignity and tackle period poverty.
This means that learners can now access free sanitary products.
