At Adult Learning Wales (ALW), we are one step closer to achieving our sustainability and environmental goals following the installation of a new solar PV system at our Coopers Yard Office in Cardiff. The supply and installation of the panels, funded by the Welsh Government, took place in the summer of 2025, with the aim of significantly reducing our carbon footprint and operational costs at the Cardiff office, thereby allowing more resources to be invested back in our educational programmes.

The installation of 93 solar panels was carried out by Green Energy Solar. These panels enable the office to generate its own clean electricity, thereby reducing its dependency on the grid for its power supply.

The new solar panel system offers both immediate and long-term benefits that align with the ALW’s core values, demonstrating our commitment to net-zero goals and environmental responsibility. Beyond the long-term financial savings, the project provides a visible, real-world example of climate action in practice. This resonates with our learners, fellow professionals, and the wider community, who can see that ALW, as a national organisation, is playing its part in finding greener solutions against a backdrop of climate change.
