Adult Learning Wales is proud to announce that its South West and Mid Wales Regional Manager, Beth John, has been appointed to the editorial board of ELM Magazine (European Lifelong Learning Magazine). ELM Magazine is a free online publication that covers current topics in adult education and lifelong learning for a readership that includes educators, researchers, and policymakers.

Beth, a passionate advocate for adult education, joins a distinguished group of experts and academics from across Europe to help guide the publication’s content and influence the discourse on lifelong learning. Beth’s new role will allow her to contribute her extensive experience in curriculum development and her commitment to fostering learner success.

For Beth, this appointment is an opportunity to champion the transformative power of adult education and to develop stronger working relationships with her European peers:

As a member of the ELM editorial board, Beth is eager to collaborate with professionals across Europe and share insights from the Welsh adult education sector. Her goal is to increase the publication’s visibility throughout both Wales and the other home nations, and ensure its work reaches diverse adult education communities.

The new role for Beth follows on the success of the co-founded international literacy project, ‘Learner Literacy Narratives: A Library of Life, Love and Loss.’ This unique initiative is co-led with Professor Dina Soeiro from the Polytechnic University of Coimbra. The project provides a global platform for adult learners to share their stories through creative practices, showcasing the significance of artefacts from past relationships. The website allows educational organisations worldwide to upload their learners’ work for an international audience.

Through her work with Adult Learning Wales and her new position on the ELM Magazine editorial board, Beth continues to dedicate herself to creating pathways for adult learners and celebrating their remarkable journeys. Llongyfarchiadau Beth!
