Sinead Lewis has recently completed her Level 2 Essential Skills Wales qualification in Application of Number with Adult Learning Wales (ALW). Balancing full-time work and her Veterinary Nursing course, Sinead took advantage of our flexible evening online classes with ALW tutor James Short before completing her exams in Bangor with the support of ALW’s Quality Assurance Administrator Catrin Roberts. With the Level 2 Application of Number qualification now behind her, Sinead can go on to complete her Veterinary Nursing college course.

Here is Sinead’s story:

“I decided to take my Level 2 Essential Skills Wales qualification in Application of Number because, as a mature student, I needed to achieve my Maths qualification to complete my Veterinary Nursing college course. I also work full time, so online learning was the perfect option for me. It meant I could study from the comfort of my own home without having to attend a classroom, making it much easier to fit around my job. The flexibility was a huge benefit, and if I ever missed a session, I could easily catch up by watching the recording later.

My online classes went really well. The tutors explained everything in the simplest way possible, using a variety of examples to ensure everyone understood the same method. They took the time to make sure no one was left behind, and the feedback I received helped me recognise both my strengths and the areas I needed to improve. It felt very personal, and I genuinely felt that the tutors wanted me to succeed and pass.

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially when it came to arranging exam dates and times around work and other commitments. Everyone was so friendly and supportive! I honestly cannot express how lovely everyone at Adult Learning Wales is.

I would absolutely recommend Adult Learning Wales to anyone thinking about completing their Level 2  Essential Skills qualification. The flexibility, support, and quality of teaching made the whole experience much less stressful than I expected. If I even needed to do another exam again, I would definitely choose to do it with Adult Learning Wales.”
