Emerge Community Arts Learners embrace Adult Learners Week
19-September-2025Our talented learners with Emerge Community Arts have recently started their brand new Expressive Arts course by sitting down together with their tutors to gather ideas about what they would love to explore this year to enhance their wellbeing, develop their communication skills and build confidence. From learning instruments and writing songs to acting, dance, art and even making music videos – the creativity and enthusiasm in the room was amazing!
To celebrate Adult Learners Week, we asked our learners what they are most looking forward to:
Alec: “I am looking forward to learning this year. I am going to learn how to sing and this will be so much fun!”
Gwyn: “I enjoy the challenge of learning something new like an instrument.”
Mark: “I have chosen to learn acting and drama as it will help me build my confidence.”
Lorna: “I want to make new friends and also learn to play ukulele.”
Lynn: “It’s never too late to learn something new!”
And from their tutors:
Anna: “Even though we have just started, our learners are already showing so much enthusiasm. I’m excited to see the confidence and friendships grow over the weeks ahead.”
Jamie: “Starting a new course is always inspiring – it’s a chance for our learners to explore, create and learn together from the very first day.”
Supported by Curriculum Development Coordinator Gaynor Hanlon, Emerge Community Arts works in partnership with Adult Learning Wales to promote independent living and life and work skills via music, drama and creative writing to support personal growth.
