Swansea CDC, Sam Al-khanchi had the great pleasure of visiting one of our part time, Level 1 ESOL groups, to watch them deliver their presentations about different festivals and celebrations. These presentations will provide evidence for their current Agored unit – ‘ESOL Cultural Awareness, Festivals’.

The unit learn about festivals from the British calendar, as well as taking the opportunity to learn about the main festivals from each other’s home countries. Our learners in this class come from all over the world, including Honduras, Lebanon, Iraq, France, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Uganda, Egypt & Palestine.

Tutor Nia said, “The learners have worked extremely hard on planning and organising their presentations. They ensured their audience was engaged by using a range of presentation techniques such as visual aids that included photographs, realia, food and PowerPoint slides. They practised confident body language and eye contact and ensured they used an appropriate register and pace.  They are an extremely motivated group – always punctual and rarely absent from class. They take on board advice and their support of each other as critical friends has made me very proud to be their Tutor.

The finished presentations are of a high quality and show the amount of time and effort each learner put into the project.”

Sam, Swansea CDC said, “It was such a privilege to be invited to watch the presentations. I learned something new from each of them! The standard of work was incredible. I am really proud of them!”

Congratulations to our wonderful learners!
