Cardiff-based learner Cliff Holden has shown off his creative skills by combining his passion for poetry while undertaking his ICT Agored Cymru accreditation with Adult Learning Wales. The impact of his learning under his tutor, Nicole Kinnaird, has left an impression on Cliff to the point where he has written a poem in dedicated to his learning under Nicole’s tutorship.

Cliff is part of an ICT class where all learners are affiliated with the United Welsh Housing Association in Cardiff and are aged 60 and above. They are embracing their learning about digital technology, from creating documents and easy read spreadsheets in Excel to learning how to use the internet in a safe manner while looking out for fake websites and phishing emails. Cliff has been practising his IT and keyboard skills, and the poem reflects his newfound confidence in typing on a keyboard.

Nicole said, “Cliff is currently on an accreditation for ICT and all the learners in my class are learning the basics ITC skills. The poem is Cliff practising his ICT skills on his own. I was and am very impressed by his work. It just shows that it is never too late to learn and to try something new.”

When I am on my laptop I am learning all the time. 

And with a little more practice I know I will be fine. 

I have a very good tutor she goes by the name of Nick. 

She comes every Wednesday and shows us every trick. 

Her style is very patient and easy to understand.   

As tutors go there is no better, and I think she is rather grand.
