Learners from our ‘Art For Wellbeing’ courses in Aberystwyth and Newtown participated in an external group exhibition organised by artist/art therapist and Adult Leaning Wales tutor, Helen Ingham. Helen was invited by MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) Machynlleth to bring together Machynlleth artists who use art making to explore, express or support their mental health for a group show. The exhibition, called “Round Boxes in a Square Peg” took place 23 October to 4 November 2023. Some of Helen’s leaners shared their experiences with us;

“I joined the course to develop creativity and imagination. I enjoyed experimenting with different techniques that I didn’t know about before; having my eyes opened. I’ve had a chance to socialise and to share my work with others. It’s given me something that I really feel I want to, and kick started the whole process of creativity which I didn’t have before attending the courses. Art is the main thing in my life now. Taking part in the MOMA exhibition meant a lot to me; showing my work in my hometown. I plan to keep creating art, and hopefully exhibit more.” Gina Roberts
